Welcome, friends, to our monthly episode of New in Nylas! 👋 It’s officially comfy sweater weather and we’ve got a lot of updates, so let’s get cozy and chat about the latest. ☕️

We recently released Nylas’ privacy mode, a security feature that restricts the calendar and event data your project can access. When it’s enabled, your project can only access events created using the Nylas APIs after you turned the feature on. This can be useful for projects where you require a certain level of access management.

Introducing application-level field selection

Section titled “Introducing application-level field selection”

Our developers have also been hacking away at application-level field selection for API responses and notification payloads. Before this, you could specify the fields Nylas would return for individual requests using the select query parameter, but you’d have to do so with every request.

Now, you can specify the fields you want Nylas to return for all of your project’s Messages and Events requests. Just contact the Nylas Sales team to enable the feature!

If you want to filter the parameters Nylas sends in Message and Event webhook notifications, you can configure them in the Dashboard.

As a reminder, October saw us release our Nylas Connect library. It’s an open-source JavaScript/TypeScript library that you can use to easily integrate authentication with your project. For more information, take a look at our release note and the Nylas Blog announcement.

  • Added support for idp_claims and jwks verification for Hosted OAuth.
  • Added hard_delete query parameter to Delete Message endpoint. When true, Nylas immediately deletes the specified message rather than sending it to the user’s Trash folder.
  • Added support for inviting participants to Microsoft events without specifying an email address.
  • Updated how Nylas handles IMAP folder attributes. It now sets them based on system attributes and folder names.
  • Fixed metadata inheritance for events. Recurring events now include metadata from the parent event.
  • Fixed the ical_uid query parameter on Get all Events requests. Nylas now supports filtering by ical_uid for events created on other providers.
  • Fixed issues with parsing attachments from messages on IMAP grants. Nylas now partially parses raw MIME data with an unexpected EoF.

Our intrepid team of developers is always working to improve Nylas, and that includes the SDKs that we maintain. We had a few updates to the SDKs throughout the month:
